Out of control
Comedy by Ray Cooney in the theater series B (Boulevard) of the Cultural Office
Richard Willey, Minister of State in the government, respected by his colleagues and feared by his opponents alike, is staying in a luxurious suite in the venerable Westminster Hotel in London. While he pretends to those around him that he has come for the parliamentary debate, the real reason is Jane. The literally ravishing Jane is a secretary who works for the opposition, which adds a spicy note to the rendezvous. While the parliamentarians bang their heads, champagne, caviar and oysters are ordered and the spouses are at a comfortable distance - everything could be fine. But then a lifeless private detective hangs in the sliding window, completely out of place. George, the assistant called in to dispose of it inconspicuously, unfortunately has the rare ability to create three new problems for every one he solves. This includes fuelling the hotel manager's acutely dynamic mistrust and the obtrusive appearance of a smart waiter whose willingness to help complicates everything more and more. The chaos takes its course and spirals completely out of control when, to make matters worse, Pamela, Richard's enchanting wife, turns up for a surprise visit.
