Music school

The Hilden Music School is a fully developed music school in the sense of the structural plan of the Association of German Music Schools (VdM). It is a place for music making, music education and music care, a place for art and culture, a place for education and meeting.

At the music school, people from different population groups, all generations and different cultural backgrounds come together, make music together, listen to each other and learn from each other. Even the youngest children are given the opportunity to playfully explore music and discover it for themselves. Children, adolescents and adults up to the age of seniors find in the music school offers and opportunities to be musically active and to constantly develop their expressive possibilities. In addition to individual support on the instrument (and/or the voice), regular music making together in ensembles (orchestras, choirs, bands and other formations) is an integral part of the education at the music school.

With its events and performances, the music school enables its students to participate directly in the cultural life of the city and at the same time plays a key role in shaping the local cultural offerings.

  • Mission Statement

The Music School of the City of Hilden is a public educational institution for all people, from toddlers to senior citizens. It consistently and flexibly tailors its offerings to their needs and promotes lifelong learning with music.

As one of almost 1,000 music schools in the nationally organized "Association of German Music Schools" (VdM), it offers a wide range of music education. The school is equally committed to the development of the general public as well as to the identification and fostering of talented students. Its central task is to encourage students to make music together in an orchestra, choir, ensemble or band.

Their educational program also supports the development of social and cognitive skills through the competent teaching of instrumental and vocal skills. In doing so, their actions are guided by the realization that music strengthens the ability to learn, creativity and a sense of responsibility, as well as enhancing the ability to work in a team.

The music school is an integral part of the educational network of the city of Hilden and contributes to improving the quality of life of the people in this city through its cultural-pedagogical activities. It is a reliable and competent cooperation partner for all forms of daycare centers, schools, amateur music associations and senior citizen facilities.
