If you would like to create a library card to actively use the library services, please bring your valid identity card or passport and a registration certificate from the city administration. Young people aged 16 and over can register without a parent's signature with a valid school ID. By signing, you agree to the library's user and fee regulations.

The library card is not transferable. The loss of the library card must be reported immediately.

The ID card fee for the next 12 months must be paid when registering.

Media that the Hilden City Library does not own, but which are available in the network libraries of the Mettmann district, can be searched via the network catalog of the libraries in the Mettmann district and ordered via BIBNET interlibrary loan for a fee (1.50 €/BIBNET interlibrary loan).

If an item is not available in the Hilden City Library or in the network libraries, it can also be searched for via interlibrary loan via DigiBib and ordered for a fee (€3/interlibrary loan).

TANs are required to place the order, which you can obtain from Hilden City Library.

Media boxes are compiled according to subject requests.
The loan period is usually 6 weeks. If the box is required for a longer period, this can be discussed in advance.

If possible, the institutions should order the media boxes at least 14 days before the desired collection date.

Of course, not all requests can be met in full, as not all topics are sufficiently available in the city library in media form and some media are always on loan.

If a medium from a media box is damaged or lost, the institution must arrange for a replacement after consultation with the city library.
