Municipal heat planning

The city of Hilden wants to become climate-neutral. In order to achieve this goal, ambitious and determined action is also required in the area of heat supply. Municipal heat planning is an important strategic instrument here.

Can heat in Hilden be generated in future on the basis of renewable electricity, environmental heat, industrial waste heat or other renewable sources? Can this heat generation be supplied via heating networks or must it be produced decentrally in each building individually?

The path to a sustainable heat supply is the result of municipal heat planning.

  • Aim and content

The aim of this municipal heat planning is to create a coordinated basis for the path towards a greenhouse gas-neutral heat supply. This includes an analysis of the current situation, an energy and GHG balance including spatial representation, an analysis of potential to determine energy saving potential and local potential for renewable energies, the development of a strategy and a catalog of measures to implement and achieve energy and GHG savings. Furthermore, the areas in which the construction of district and district heating networks does not make sense are identified, so that the individual supply of the properties should be aimed for here. Furthermore, focus areas are defined that are to be prioritized in the short and medium term with regard to the planning and testing of heating networks. All affected administrative units and all other relevant stakeholders will be involved in these focus areas. In addition, a continuation strategy, a controlling concept and a communication strategy will be developed.

  • City conference on municipal heat planning

On Tuesday, October 01, 2024, the city conference will take place, which will deal with the draft of the municipal heat planning.

From 6 p.m. to 8 p. m., all citizens will have the opportunity to find out about the current status of the strategic planning and contribute their opinions and suggestions at the Stadthalle, Fritz-Gressard-Platz 1.

The city would like to point out that the city conference is barrier-free. The Stadthalle Hilden is easily accessible for people with disabilities. A wheelchair ramp leads from the main entrance to the checkroom foyer, where the toilets are also located. An elevator connects the checkroom foyer with the underground car park and the foyer where the city conference takes place.
